A John Kumar, Congress MLA from Puducherry assembly has resigned from the Congress-DMK government and now making it way below the majority mark in the Union Territory (UT) as per the political news today. A matter of fact is that now coalition-opposition NR Congress-AIADMK-BJP alliance has the power with only 28 out of which 14 MLAs are in each house. This sudden bump came to the party only after Rahul Gandhi’s stay in Puducherry.
Do you know why is it easier for the MLAs to change their integrity? It is because of the unusual nature of the Puducherry politics and the size of each assembly seat. The voters’ strength in Puducherry is 20,000 to 25,000 which almost an average city corporation ward in India so it is obvious that politics in the UT is completely personal rather than fair. Both the parties famous in the Union Territory, the DMK and the AIADMK hardly have a special interest in the latest political news or for that matter in politics as all the policies, schemes in every area are influenced by Tamil Nadu. now that BJP has been consistent in maintaining its position in states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala, 2 out of 4 MLAs who resigned Congress have joined BJP.
