Why do Chinese men fail at team sports?

 


 Since 1984 China has won almost 546 medals out of which 13 came from team sports that too from women’s team as per the latest sports articles today. All from women and not from men, big ball team medals. And the rest of the medals have been achieved from individual events or it has come from team sports which are played by individuals, for instance, Team TT, Swimming, Gymnastics. 


China has said that the sport Football has been invented by the nation since its ancient game Cùju is similar to that of football. But it had only made headlines as the best sports news in the 1990s. The top sports news blog claimed that it qualified once in the 2002 World Cup and later was ranked among 75th in the world. One of the professional football clubs, Jiangsu Fanclub was closed because the owner who is also a billionaire ran into debt.  


The reason that China has not done great in terms of men’s team sports could be the population of women. China is a nation that has won 3 gold medals in the Olympic Volleyball and every time it was won by women and not men.
